This is a single post from deeden.co.uk made during the period May 2002 to April 2009. During a previous grand redesign I decided to make a break with the past and consign the old entries to history. This entry is from June 2006 and lives here forevermore.

Cricket at Stormont

Ireland played a first one-day international on Tuesday against England. A fine day was had by all at the lovely Civil Service cricket ground near Stormont. England, batting first to the relief of most of the crowd, made 301 for 7 with Trescothick making a good but rather ponderous 113 and Bell chipping in with 80.

Ireland made a perfectly respectable 263 for 9 to lose the game by 38 runs. A lose it is true, however we avoided embarrassment and made a respectable showing. We still need to improve before the World Cup but there is something to build on and we should hopefully put up a decent performance.

I do have pictures of the day which I’ll put online soon, once I can get them from the memory card which is playing silly buggers at the moment.
