This is a single post from deeden.co.uk made during the period May 2002 to April 2009. During a previous grand redesign I decided to make a break with the past and consign the old entries to history. This entry is from May 2005 and lives here forevermore.

All hail Stuart Pearce!

BBC SPORT | Man City unveil Pearce as manager: “Manchester City have named Stuart Pearce as their new boss.

The 43-year-old has held the position in a caretaker role since Kevin Keegan quit as boss two months ago.

Pearce, a former England captain, has led the club to eighth place in the Premiership and on the brink of a place in the Uefa Cup.”

Hail my new glorious leader! I feel much happier about this appointment than I did when Keegan got the job. Pearce has done a good job since taking over, taking us into surprise European contention. I also like his attitude with regards to defending in that he has told the back four to worry about clearing the ball first and only look to set up attacks if they have time. Defenders should defend first.
