This is a single post from deeden.co.uk made during the period May 2002 to April 2009. During a previous grand redesign I decided to make a break with the past and consign the old entries to history. This entry is from September 2003 and lives here forevermore.

Poker, I've never even met her!

The last few days have been a bit of a blur of poker related activity. Monday night was our first poker night featuring myself, Tony, Russell, Marty, Karen, Marc and Andrew. Karen won with ease, getting it down to myself and Andrew and then slowly leeching the chips away from us. I survived a little longer than Andrew and then proceeded to lose my chips on the third or fourth time of going all-in. All I can say is that I completely agree with Russell’s observations. I would also add “Fold if you don’t fancy your hand, no matter how much it winds up Marc”.

The other poker related activity has been me spending time writing an IRC bot to act as dealer for Texas Hold ‘em. It’s mostly working now apart from a complete lack of understanding of side pots. That will come, but for now it will do a game quite well. It keeps track of active players, bankrolls and the like and also works out who has won. All in all not a bad way to spend some time.
