This is a single post from deeden.co.uk made during the period May 2002 to April 2009. During a previous grand redesign I decided to make a break with the past and consign the old entries to history. This entry is from August 2003 and lives here forevermore.

Kasparov - Ponomariov rematch arranged

Finally we may have some progress on the re-unification of the World Chess Championship. Kasparov and Ponomariov will finally start their FIDE title match on the 19th of September in Yalta. The winner will play the victor of the match between Kramnik and Leko, which has still to be scheduled. Eventually we may get to the point where there is just one champion.

This situation helps me understand how Stephen feels with regards to the boxing world. It’s bad enough with 2 world champions in chess, so it must be absolutely awful with 5 or 6 world champions per weight in boxing. At least chess seems to be getting its act together (slowly).
