He's romancing you and chancing his arm
Some advance warning for you all out there, if you don’t like football then this post is not for you. Ok, now that I have the readership down to Marc I’ll continue…
Roy Keane is a disgrace. No surprise there I’m sure you’ll say. This time however he’s really dragged himself to a new low. He’s admitted to doing what City fans knew all along, deliberately setting out to injure Alfie Haaland. Now I’m no fan of United, but I can live with a bit of tough (fair) play from a midfielder, even a United one. I remember watching Steve McMahon and Brian Robson kicking each other to bits in a derby match of the early nineties; nothing malicious, just two tough uncompromising players.
Keane on the other hand is a thug. A good player (when he can be bothered), but a thug nonetheless. The FA should (but won’t) throw the book at him. He’s too big a name and he’ll get away with it. Maybe a fine, which he’ll pay from his pocket money, and a slap on the wrist, but nothing else. I hope I’m wrong but I doubt it.
The derby matches this season will be interesting. I’m sure a few of the City players would like to sort Keane out. I hope they don’t though. They’d only be putting themselves into the gutter beside him. Beat him on the pitch, beat United and he’ll get himself sent off again without anyone else’s help.
